    Welcome to North Campus

The majority of students at The University of Texas at Austin tend to live in 3 areas. While not always the case, there is a general progression from each area for the students that live here all 4+ years of undergrad and even into graduate school.

As students begin to grow out of the party scene and focus their sights on graduation the general progression from dorms and West campus apartments is to North Campus apartments, condos and houses. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule but the North Campus apartments tend to be a little quieter than living in the bustling West Campus area. North Campus apartments are not exclusively for students, but due to the proximity to campus and the price due to that location many of the occupants do fall in that category.

North Campus is a beautiful part of Austin with a ton of history. The North Campus area starts in the south at 29th street and encompasses all of the North University neighborhood. North Campus technically stops at 38th street but to UT students the term has come to include other historic areas including Hyde Park and North Loop all the way up to 2222 or Koenig in the north. Bordered on the west by Guadalupe and the east by I-35 this area is an amazing place to call home. Although North Campus is without a doubt a student neighborhood, the funky mix of UT Austin apartments, amazing single family homes/duplexes, and some of the favorite local businesses in town make this one of the most amazing locations to call home.

With proximity to the UT campus and quieter surroundings North Campus and Hyde Park apartments for rent are a favorite among Law students and others pursuing a graduate degree. Many Law students opt to live as close to Dean Keeton and Red River as possible. A few of the most sought after North Campus apartments in this area include Sabina Apartments, Uptown Apartments, River Oaks, The Bungalows, Great Oaks, and Grand Oaks Apartments. With a bus stop right outside of most of these, students have the option to catch a bus or take a nice walk down Dean Keeton onto campus.

The North Campus area closer to UT is absolutely beautiful with tons of gorgeous Oak trees and a few lush parks to relax or bring your 4 legged friends for a walk. Adam’s Hemphill Park and Eastwood Park are two of the best places to hang out with friends or just go read a book under a shade tree.

Exploring a little further you will find many other great North Campus apartments for students to call home. A few of the favorites include The Residences at the Triangle, Lofts at the Triangle, Waller Creekside, Gables Central Park, Oak Park, Echo Apartments, Bruning Lofts, and Duval Villas.

When exploring North Campus there are a ton of great options for things to do. Some UT Austin staples that generations of students have been enjoying over the years include Crown and Anchor Pub, Posse East, and Dirty Martin’s. Catering to both meat eaters and vegetarians, you can find awesome burgers and other options for everyone at these 3 local hangouts. Trudy’s is another local chain in Austin that can be found in North Campus. Make sure to try their special Mexican Martini’s and stuffed avocado for the true experience. If you’re looking for that perfect coffee shop to set up for a long study session or catch up with a friend be sure to stop by La Tazza Fresca on Guadalupe or Spiderhouse which can also be a great place to catch live music!

If you have a sweet tooth don’t miss an opportunity to try the world famous Amy’s Ice Cream! You can also find delicious treats at Quack’s Bakery in Hyde Park. Aside from the few beer spots mentioned earlier you can also grab a refreshing beer or cocktail at The Local, Love Goat, Hopfields, or Vino Vino!

These are just a few highlights, you can find many other great things to do as you explore the North Campus area. With the average single family home price around $600,000 many parents, students, and investors choose to buy more affordable condos averaging around the mid $200,000 range. Many UT students choose to rent North Campus apartments, condos, or houses which will average around $600-1000/bedroom. It’s important to note that one bedroom prices will typically be higher and a great way to save money is to find friends for larger units which allow for lower cost/bedroom.

At Uptown Realty our experienced agents know the North Campus area better than anyone and would love the opportunity to help you find your next home! We help clients looking to prelease student apartments, lease homes and condos for sale near UT, first time home buyers, and investors looking for that perfect rental property.
